William Garrett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2015.

Longtime Dallas - area resident and businessman William T. Garrett went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2015. Born May 11, 1925 in Baylor hospital Dallas, TX to Ella Mae Miles Garrett and Wilburn T. Garrett. He excelled in high school, becoming an All-State football player and Senior Class President. After graduating from Crozier Tech High School in 1944, he joined the Army, serving in both the engineering and healthcare fields during World War II. He married Betty Kretschmer and they had three sons, later divorcing. He later married D. Jean Willis, with whom he had two children. His lifetime career in Industrial Plastics started in 1953, working in the warehouse of a wholesale plastics company. He then became a salesman, and continued to work his way up, becoming the President and General Manager. Ultimately, he started and was CEO/major stockholder for his own successful company, Allied Plastic Supply, before selling it and retiring in 1999. William was a man of character and charm. He always saw the potential in everyone and tried to help them to achieve their goals. Though he was known and loved for his rough exterior and assertive personality, he was always the first to stop and help someone in need.
He is survived by his wife Jean, sons; William T (Judy), Glenn (Katie), Ray (Anne), William Jackson, daughter Jacklyn (Aaron) and stepson Richard (Melissa). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Bill was the most important business friend in my life. I have no idea where I would be without his guidance and advice. I know he is with Christ today.
