Jack enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time at his float cabin in Kildonan, fishing on his boat "Sailorfish II" or hunting with his brother Don and good friend Cecil Roberts. It was his love of the outdoors that drew him to logging. He owned and operated Greenwood Contractors based out of Stewartson Inlet and he continued to remain active in logging even after his retirement in 1990. He was also an active member of the Tractor Club, driving his Ford tractor in the annual parade.
