BENEDICT, William Graham Ritchie
1943 – 2011
Ritchie Benedict passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011, at the age of 68 years. He was born in Calgary on August 8, 1943 and was a noted researcher, writer and knowledgeable local history buff of this area. Ritchie, was a captain with the Calgary Fire Department. Ritchie was an avid researcher of the paranormal and had published articles and reviews in several topical magazines. As well, he gave many talks on the subject for the Calgary school system. Ritchie is survived by his aunt Jean Irving, aunt Dorothy Lamont, aunt Agnes Scott, by cousins Harvey Glendinning, Mrs. Ardell Decaire, Gordon, Dean, Dale, Bill, Kathleen, Lorne and Jim Benedict, John, Murray and Janice Lamont, Marion (Benedict) Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation one hour prior to the service. Ritchie was unfailingly cheerful while following his own course through life. He was as candid and warm-hearted as it is possible to be.

I have wonderful memories of Ritchie from High School. He was a kind gentle person and very much willing to be his own person. He earned the respect of his classmates and I'm sure of the people he met throughout his career. Well done Ritchie.
