William "Harry" Lee Brewer, 82, of Wichita Falls passed away to his heavenly home Tuesday, July 10, 2012 after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Miller of Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park with military services rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Harry was born in Barberton, Ohio on April 17, 1930 to Benny Lee and Laura Bell (Zigler) Brewer. After graduating high school, he joined the Army and served during the Korean War. He then entered a career in the tire industry and worked in management for various large tire companies.

At the age of 14, Harry began work as a pin boy in the local bowling alley and all the while, he honed a bowling career which lasted over 40 years. He held many positions in both the Wichita Falls Bowling Association and the Texas State Bowling Association. He is a member of the Hall of Fame and a Lifetime Member of each association.

Harry met the love of his life and took Carrol Marie Collins for his wife in 1954. His job brought them to Wichita Falls, Harry joined the Wichita Falls Elks' Lodge and promptly became actively involved in their program for the mentally/physically challenged children. Being creative and energetic, Harry designed a Christmas party for these children who attended Cunningham School. Harry wore a reindeer hat and gathered all the "elves" and "clowns" for an entertaining party with gifts presented to each child. Cookies and ice cream were served and vocal Christmas music was performed.

Also, Harry served as a referee for high school and college football and basketball games for 20 years.

On June 10, 2011, Harry was presented a Certificate of Recognition for having served 59 years as a loyal member of the Elks Lodge, #1105 in Wichita Falls. On June 18, 2011 he was presented a Certificate of Appreciation in grateful acknowledge of the bountiful and thoughtful contributions given to further the program of TESA and aide the mentally challenged children of Texas.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley. He is survived by his wife Carrol; three daughters, Tanya Brewer, Debra Nelms and husband, Jimmy and Cindy Kyle and husband, Pete; son Tim Brewer and wife, Linda; three grandsons, Shawn Kyle, Jason Nelms and John Lee Aultman; three granddaughters, Jenna Columbo, Rhonda Rebber and Melissa Colmenero; nine great grandsons; five great granddaughters; and a brother, Tom Brewer and wife, Cindy of Akron, Ohio.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Elks Lodge of Wichita Falls (please specify for the Christmas party for the mentally challenged at Cunningham School) 4205 Seymour Hwy. Wichita Falls, 76309 or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5800 Southwest Pkwy, Wichita Falls, 76310.
