Dr. William R. Brink, M.D. 94, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4th, at Good Samaritan Society. Dr. Brink was born in Williamsport, Pa. on June 29, 1919. He was a graduate of Penn State University, Harvard (masters), and Duke Medical School. After internships at Western Reserve and The Mayo Clinic, he settled in Williamsport and practiced cardiology and internal medicine for 33 years. Dr. Brink also served also served in the US Army from 1943 to 1949, leaving service as the rank of captain. 94, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4th, at Good Samaritan Society. Dr. Brink was born in Williamsport, Pa. on June 29, 1919. He was a graduate of Penn State University, Harvard (masters), and Duke Medical School. After internships at Western Reserve and The Mayo Clinic, he settled in Williamsport and practiced cardiology and internal medicine for 33 years. Dr. Brink also served also served in the US Army from 1943 to 1949, leaving service as the rank of captain. He was a Fellow of American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians and American Federation for Clinical Research. One of his greatest achievements took place while in the Army in 1949 as Director of Streptococcal Disease Laboratory at Francis E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming. His team developed the cure for Rheumatic Fever.

Dr. Brink is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Claude; brothers Edward, Francis and James{twin}; and infant daughters Mary Josephine and Barbara Jean.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years Margene; children James Brink, Kathy Brink, Anne Brink (Bob Hollingsworth), Mary Abernathy (Michael) , Richard Brink (Kelly), Margaret Kiessling (Rick), John Brink and Ellen Brink; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grand children .

The family wished to express their deepest thanks to his caregiver, Jerry Prince (his "adopted" son} and the staff at Home Instead; Hollie Meriwether and the staff at Hosparus; as well as the devoted and caring staff at Good Samaritan.

A memorial service will take place at Good Samaritan Society, 3500 Good Samaritan Way, Louisville on Tuesday, November 12th at 10 am. DR. Brink's funeral and burial will take place in Williamsport, Pa.
