William Campbell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2013.

Bill Campbell, 82, died October 2nd 2013, in Seattle, Washington.

Bill was born in 1931 to William E. Campbell and Eva R. Campbell of Hoquiam Washington. From an early age, he developed a love for the outdoors and recreation that would remain with him throughout his life. Much of his youth was spent exploring the Grays Harbor area and the nearby Olympic Mountains.

Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and graduated from the University of Washington following his service. In 1971, he established his customs brokerage business, the William H. Campbell Company. Bill was proud of his business, and worked hard each day to provide excellent customer service and a personal touch to each of his customers for over 40 years.

1971 was also the year that he married Maureen A. Campbell, his wife of 42 years, whom he would describe as the love of his life. Bill and Maureen resided in Redmond, Washington, where they would raise their children, William D. Campbell, and Elizabeth A Campbell.

Bill enjoyed outdoor recreation with his family, which included regular camping, hiking and boating excursions. He was a lifetime supporter of the University of Washington, and a proud 50 year Husky football season ticket holder. His last Saturday at home was spent like so many others in the past; preparing to go to the football game. Bill was also a student of history and enjoyed reading in his spare time.
Bill is survived by his wife, Maureen, son, William, daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law, Timothy E. Carpenter, and two grandchildren, Cody and Molly.

I would like to send my sympathy to the Bill Campbell family. I worked with Bill on and off during my 35 years with Achilles USA, Inc. from 1978 to 2013. He was a very pleasent person to work with. He will be missed.

It was my privilege to work with Bill for 26+ years. We made fun of his deep voice and we thoroughly appreciated his great service. Our company grew and prospered over the years with help from Bill. We will miss him.
