William D. Fugit, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Ocean Grove, NJ. Born in Pendleton, OR, William resided in New Jersey for over 50 years. He worked as a mining engineer for U.S. Borax Company in California before working as a chemical engineer for GAF in New Jersey. William was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean. He is survived by his loving daughters Dale Jean Fugit and her husband Dave Spainhour, Sally Kleeman and her husband Louis, and Donna Fugit and her husband Alex Simone. He also leaves behind his grandson, William Kleeman and his wife Elizabeth.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Ave Union from 10-11AM. Funeral Service will follow at 11AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in William's name may be made to any veteran organization of your choosing.
