William D. Healey, "Bill," age 90, of Attleboro, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was the former husband of the late Jane C. (Metcalf) Healey.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late William A. Healey and May (Hanley) Healey, he spent his youth in Fall River, lived in Springfield, Virginia and in Plainville for forty years prior to moving to Attleboro a year ago.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1945, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations from Brown University. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served as a Radio Operator.
Mr. Healey worked as a Director in Paraguay and Argentina for the Agency for International Development and as an Administrator for the General Services Administration. He also worked for the Peace Corps in Washington D.C.
He was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church in Fall River. An avid Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan, he enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen Healey and his wife Deborah of Medway, MA, Philip Healey and his wife Anita of Plainville, MA; two granddaughters, Caitlin and Meghan Healey and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Ellen Healey and brother of the late Edward J. and Peter F. Healey and Gertrude R. Chadwick.
His Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 8:30 to 9:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.
