William Henry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2014.

William (Bill) Henry Bill passed to a new life on January 6th, 2014. He lived a wonderful and creative 88 years as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Mickey, his brother Carl, daughter Kim, two sons Chris, and Steve, and three grandchildren Jennifer, Jennifer, and Andrew. Memorial services will be held at Keaton's Mortuary at 1022 E Street, San Rafael, on Saturday January 18th at 10:30 AM. All are welcome to come hear about and celebrate Bill's life. Bill was a teacher, salesman, draftsman, scoutmaster and a little league coach. He trained to be ready as a pilot during World War II in the Army Air Corps. In later years he was active as a Mason and in VFW. After teaching high school physics and chemistry with his general education degree, Bill worked on the Boeing B52 aircraft as an engineer/ draftsman and taught other mechanical engineers how to follow Boeing's methodology. In his years as a forms designer and salesman, he designed the MasterCard® logo we all know today. At his core, he wanted each of us to be and do our best and to help others through care and commitment. He led by example and gently encouraging those around him to live up to their own best expectations of themselves. Later in life after having suffered a heart attack, he joined the Mended Hearts organization and was very active with them at the YMCA helping others to put their lives back together. He was always a friend to others and everything he did was with quality and a little bit of fun spirit in mind. No matter what the situation he could make light of it and look to the positive side. In his later years he would join with his best friends and do crazy skits to get other seniors to laugh at life. Bill you made a huge difference in all of our lives. We miss you terribly and love you so much! We know that you are still there with us in spirit and living on in each of us, encouraging us to be and to do our creative best, and helping us remember to take things a little more lightly and to always enjoy helping others.
