William Frederick ("Bill") Huebotter Jr passed away at the age of 83 on Monday, December 16, 2013 in Houston, Texas. Born on May 28, 1930, Bill was a fifth generation Houstonian. He was the youngest of eight children born to William Frederick Huebotter and Ellen Eckert Huebotter. Bill was married to Lela Alice Sparks Huebotter who died in 1990. Serious complications from a childhood injury interrupted Bill's primary school education for four years. In 1952, he graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston. Bill attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Bill pursued his career in architecture for more than twenty years, working as a project designer for several Houston-based architectural firms. Bill had a great love of the outdoors, in particular spending time at his cabin on scenic Bull Creek outside of Austin, where he enjoyed swimming and fishing with family and friends. He was also an avid gardener. In his later years, Bill worked as a volunteer at the Shriners Hospital, serving popcorn to the children being treated at the hospital. This was Bill's way of giving back for the life-saving help that he received as a boy from the dedicated doctors and nurses at the Shriners Hospital. Bill was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Houston. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Lela; and by six of his sisters, Bertha DeVries, Lena Harrison, Dorothy McMillan-Kadi, Margaret Kelley, Nora Shipley and Lois Engman. He is survived by his sister Helen Yawn; and by a number of nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2013 in the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. Family and friends are invited to a one-hour visitation immediately preceding the memorial service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Angels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital, 6977 Main Street, Houston, Texas, 77030.

Dear Dubby,
I am so sad that you have died. I wish I would have kept my promise to you about visiting. I'm sorry for that. Now it is too late. I'll always remember your smile and how you made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the room. I loved spending time with you especially in Austin at your beautiful paradise. I loved beating you at Spades and thank you for keeping score all those times. I hear you in my mind and feel your love in my heart and I thank God that even though you weren't my blood uncle YOU were the best uncle a girl could ever have. I am grateful that I was so blessed to be a member of this family. I love you always and forever. pat

Uncle Dubby, I know I was just a "married" relation, but you were the "only boy" in the Huebotter Clan and you will be missed. I hope that there are wheelchair free hangouts in heaven, cause I'm sure you will enjoy the heck out of that! Walk tall!
Love you! Jeannie Yawn
