Obituary

William Ray Isley, 85, of 310 Shannon Court in Ridgeway, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Forsyth Specialty Care Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. He was born in Henry County, April 8, 1927 to Charles Lester Isley and Essie Hensley Isley. He served in the Navy during WW II and was Assistant Manager of Advance Auto Parts for over 40 years. He was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and also served on the Teller committee. He was treasurer of the Martinsville Touchdown Club for over 15 years. William Ray Isley, 85, of 310 Shannon Court in Ridgeway, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Forsyth Specialty Care Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. He was born in Henry County, April 8, 1927 to Charles Lester Isley and Essie Hensley Isley. He served in the Navy during WW II and was Assistant Manager of Advance Auto Parts for over 40 years. He was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and also served on the Teller committee. He was treasurer of the Martinsville Touchdown Club for over 15 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Isley and Marie Campbell; two brothers, Charles Lester Isley, Jr. and Kennon Isley.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wendolyn Chitwood Isley of the residence; two sons, William B. Isley and wife Bonnie, Steve Isley and wife Carolyn, all of Martinsville; one brother, Harold Gray Isley of Ridgeway; five grandchildren, Gary Isley, Jr., Christy Barnett, Kevin Isley, Elizabeth Isley, Stephanie Plogger and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 11:00 am at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Dr. David Adkins and Rev. Gary Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the residence.
