Obituary

William (Bill) Kiddy, 95, of Jekyll Island, GA, died Monday, July 1, 2014, at Hospice of the Golden Isles after residing at home with his family. Bill was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on January, 24, 1919. He graduated from Wesleyan College, West Virginia, in 1940 and joined Union Carbide Corporation in Clarksburg, WV, where he worked for forty-two years and retired in 1982 after many domestic and international assignments. He served in the U.S. Army in both the Philippines and Japan. He moved to Jekyll Island in 1983. William (Bill) Kiddy, 95, of Jekyll Island, GA, died Monday, July 1, 2014, at Hospice of the Golden Isles after residing at home with his family. Bill was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on January, 24, 1919. He graduated from Wesleyan College, West Virginia, in 1940 and joined Union Carbide Corporation in Clarksburg, WV, where he worked for forty-two years and retired in 1982 after many domestic and international assignments. He served in the U.S. Army in both the Philippines and Japan. He moved to Jekyll Island in 1983. Bill was a member of the Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a fifty-year member of the Franklin Lodge AF&AM Masonic #7, former member of the Lions Club (one time President), member of the Jekyll Island Men's Golf Association, member and past President of the Paupers Club, member and past President of the Sand Dollar Club, former member of the Emeritus Club (Wesleyan West Virginia), and a member of the Friends of Historic Jekyll Island. His hobbies were golf and vegetable/flower gardening.

Bill Kiddy is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, JoAnn White Kiddy; son Larry (Em) Kiddy of Lynnville, TN; daughter Mary Ann Dotter of Jekyll Island; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Helen Louise Linton.

Funeral services will be held at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, GA, on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. A memorial service will be held on Jekyll Island at a later date.

The family requests no flowers; donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
