Obituary

William A. McClellan was a devoted husband of 62 years, father of nine, grandfather of 26 and great-grandfather of 27 who displayed his considerable talents in many ways. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin and George Washington Universities with degrees in Accounting, Commercial Science and Economics. He served as Dean of the Graduate School of Benjamin Franklin University, which was subsequently absorbed into George Washington University. As a World War II veteran, he trained as a Navy Pilot and served as a Fighter Director on the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin (CVS-13). He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat....
William A. McClellan was a devoted husband of 62 years, father of nine, grandfather of 26 and great-grandfather of 27 who displayed his considerable talents in many ways. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin and George Washington Universities with degrees in Accounting, Commercial Science and Economics. He served as Dean of the Graduate School of Benjamin Franklin University, which was subsequently absorbed into George Washington University.

As a World War II veteran, he trained as a Navy Pilot and served as a Fighter Director on the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin (CVS-13). He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat.

He was a Certified Public Accountant and public servant for 36 years. He rose to the position of Chief of the Special Services Branch of the Appellate Division of the Internal Revenue Service.

He played the piano throughout his life and loved leading sing-alongs with his family whenever they gathered together.
He was a lector at St. Nicholas Church in Laurel, MD and chairman of the Parish Finance Council for many years. He and his beloved Ruth both received the Archdiocese of Washington Order of Merit Medal for Faithful Service to St. Nicholas.
He had a lifelong passion for history, especially the history of Presidential elections and wrote the book The American Presidency: Analysis of Presidential Elections.

We will always remember him.
