Attleboro - William Gerard McIntyre passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 17, 2016 of cardiac arrest while participating in a motocross competition.
Bill was born in Boston and grew up in Foxboro and Sandwich. He graduated from Sandwich High School in 1985. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Airborne Division and subsequently became a member of the Special Forces, Green Beret Unit. He served in multiple locations around the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the conclusion of his military service, Bill joined Verizon Corp. and served as a technician in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Bill leaves behind the love of his life, Sue Murray and her two daughters, Jamie and Kelley. He also leaves his parents, William and Cathleen of Sandwich, MA, his sister Jennifer McIntyre Condon and his brother Greg and sister-in-law Rachel and two nieces Charlotte and Bridget and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Bill will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and ability to bring happiness and light to others. He will be greatly missed by all.
A period of visitation will be held with the family on Thursday, April 21, 2016 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 MA-6A, Sandwich, MA 02563.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016, 12:00 at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road East Sandwich. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701. Friends may share condolences and sign the register book online at www.nickersonbournefuneralhome.com

Billy Mac was a great friend and always treated me like a brother. The times I spent with Bill and his family were some of the best I've ever had. We would laugh for hours about the most insignificant things and, occasionally, discuss life's deeper issues but not very often. I've never known anyone who used more health & beauty products than Bill but he did have some pretty nice skin. Bill was taken from us way too soon but in the time he was with us, was truly a selfless patriot and an amazing friend. When I think back on the times we shared on the Cape I always smile and, sometimes, laugh out loud. Even though I'm miles away, my heart remains in Sandwich. Although he's left our physical world, he'll never leave our hearts. I offer my deepest, heartfelt condolences to his family and anyone whose life was touched by Billy Mac.

Hi my name is Geno. I race Bills class and was behind him when he fell ill. I can be nervous and shy before races but, Bill a very pleasant and disarming demeanor about him. He had put me at ease more than once with his genuinely humorous and friendly manner. Bill had a passion and love for this sport as the rest of us truly do. We not only enjoy it but, it becomes necessity to most of and honestly encourages us to be better people in our daily lives. When we meet people like Bill in our family, it truly inspires us to be more kind and friendly to others as he. If you read some of the other remarks circulatiing, it will become quite obvious how he left such a positive impression on people. Even folks that had even only met him that very morning. I know I speak for all of us when I say that our thoughts and prayers are truly with you. If there were a silver lining, it is that he really did move on doing what he loved. We will carry on his legacy by opening the flood gates and being even more kind to eachother as he. God Bless.

Our heartfelt condolences to the entire McIntyre family. "Billy" had a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew him. I had the pleasure to sit and catch up with my cousin just three weeks ago at another family event. We chatted about 30 minutes together and he seemed to be so happy and content in his life. It was also clear to me how loved and cherished he was by his family. Jen and Billy looked to me like two best friends who always had each other's back. Bill was a great person to work with. He was fun yet diligent in his work. I knew from the times we worked together that he kept work in its position as a way to support his family and his passion for motocross. I will miss him.
