William Finnell Mills, age 85, of Coker, died Dec. 8, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Coker Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Iona Mills; a sister, Eunice Mills Barringer; and brothers, Edwin Mills and Johnny Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Francine Evans Mills; a daughter, Susan Mills Sprayberry (Byron); sons, William Kenneth Mills and Eric Dean Mills; brothers, Joe H. Mills (Sarah), Jimmie Mills (Nell), Arnold Mills (Sue), and Mitt Mills (Sarah Jo); and grandchildren, Leah Sprayberry Shaw (Robby), Brett Sprayberry (Laura), Heath Mills (Priscilla), Lauren Mills, Laura Mills, and Lindsay Mills Cornelson (Samuel).
Mr. Mills was a member of Coker Baptist Church, where he served for many years as choir director, a deacon, and a Sunday School teacher. He served in the Army during World War II in the European theatre. He was retired from B.F. Goodrich with over 40 years of service.
Pallbearers will be Byron Sprayberry, Brett Sprayberry, Bruce Evans, Samuel Cornelson, Tommy Coleman, and Phillip Hawthorne.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ronald McCormack and staff, nurses and staff of Station 1 at Forest Manor Nursing Home, B.F. Goodrich coworkers and friends, Fred Mullenix, and the Coker Volunteer Fire Department, and friends and neighbors of the Coker Community.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Coker Baptist Church Building Fund.

So sorry to hear of the "going home" of one of the biggest influence on mine and many others' lives.I know he will be missed.But I also know he is singing with that beautiful voice and healed body with His Lord and so many others we loved that are singing with him.
