William (Bill) Leo Pennington went to be with Jesus, his Savior, on Monday, August 19, 2013. He was at Aultman North Therapy where he exercised weekly and experienced Ventricular Arrhythmia (high heart beat). He didn't suffer but was gone immediately. He was taken to downtown Aultman and was pronounced dead. He was a native of Siloam Springs, AR. Bill completed High School and joined the U.S. Navy. After four years in the Navy he came back to Siloam Springs and attended John Brown University, a Christian College whose founder, John Brown Sr., was from the Salvation Army. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Bill also was a member of the Arkansas National Guard. He married Wilma Marie Wood, also a graduate of JBU. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 18, 2013. They lived in Bloomington, IN for four years while Bill worked at Sarkes Tarzian in Quality Control, then at Central Coil for six months. He then accepted a job at Diebold Inc. in the Alarm Division Tech Support and retired after 34 years in 2001.
Bill grew up in Southern Baptist Church in Arkansas and attended the same denomination in Bloomington. When in North Canton, OH he attended Trinity Baptist for 15 years and Cathedral of Life in Canton, OH for 31 years where he served as Head Usher. He loved to read his Bible, Christian books, and Reader's Digest, playing his guitar, liked nature, listening to sports, and sing. Bill was a loving husband. He was diligent and faithful in all ways of life. Honest and devoted, he enjoyed serving the Lord and being with people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde (in 1982) and Hazel (in 2008) Pennington. Bill is survived by his wife, Wilma; brother-in-law, John Freedman Wood of Springdale, AR; brother, Robert (Doris) Pennington of Harrison, AR; sister, Betty (Joe) Nevills of Crowder, OK; three nephews, Steven Pennington of Conway, AR, Wayne (Kerri) Nevills of Clovis, CA, Larry (Larae) Nevills of Plano, TX; four great-nephews, Zack, Nick, A.J., and Seth Nevills of Clovis, CA; two great-nieces, Marissa Nevills of Arlington, TX and Catherine Nevills of Plano, TX; also many cousins, friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord, and mothers of Zion.
Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at at the Cathedral of Life, 4111 38th St. NW, Canton, OH on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dr. Dana M. Gammill officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Cathedral of Life Building Fund.
The family would like to thank Aultman North Therapy, Downtown Aultman, and the North Canton Fire Department for the excellent care given to Bill during his emergency.

Bill was one of our grandparents fourteen grandchildren and the first to be called home. I remember when he joined the navy there were some who thought it might be a mistake, but our granddad responded by saying: "Somebody's got to do it." I wish I could have seen him more often. Bill Pennington, Okeechobee, FL.

Wilma, we're holding you close and praying for you often that God will give you comfort and wisdom in all the decisions you need to make. One of the things I enjoyed about Bill was putting puzzles together with him. He was a very special brother to Bob and me. Love you, Bob and Doris Pennington

My Elijah (18 months old, now) loved Mr. Bill! Every Sunday he wanted Bill to hold him! Without fail! Even though he didn't say much, the smile that came across Bills face every time he saw Elijah, was priceless! We moved to Florida 5 months ago, and every time I go to my new Church, I often wish Bill was there to give Elijah a welcoming hug!

A blessing to have gone to school with Bill.
All of the Penningtons lived a Sermon and I'd rather see one than hear one.

RIP, Bill. You led a strong good life for the Lord. I remember lots of good times esp. When you led us under the clothes line on the horse and I got two pretty black eyes.
