Obituary

William Warren Rumans, 92, of Davenport, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky passed away peacefully of Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Runge Mortuary by 9:30 am on Wednesday. William was born December 1, 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of David and Eva (Smart) Rumans. He graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana with a degree in electrical engineering. He served in the Navy during WWII. On June 14, 1946 he married Margaret Bowen. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2008.
William started his career as an electrical engineer with Burns & McDonald in Kansas City, Missouri. He then became general manager of Big Rivers R.E.C.C. in Henderson, Kentucky. He later owned, along with his wife and son, Diamond Rentals in Evansville, Indiana and Owensboro, Kentucky. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Henderson.
William's family would especially like to thank the staff at Senior Star at Elmore Place Memory Care and Hospice Compassus for their compassionate care.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Karen (Steve) Bulmer, Apple Valley, Minnesota; Pam (Stan) Shepherd, Bettendorf, Iowa; daughter-in-law Nancy Rumans, Henderson, Kentucky; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Billy Warren Rumans, his parents, and two sisters.
