I met Cole several years ago when I began working out with the UK Fencing Club. His hard work and influence helped to rebuild the club when it could have just as easily folded. Cole was friendly and accepting of anyone who shared his passion for the sport and as a non-traditional student I really appreciated this about him. I am glad to have known him and proud to call him a friend. My deepest condolences go out to his family.
Sincerely,
Paul Russell

Cole was one of the most amazing funny sincere genuine humans I have ever met. From the time we met in high school through 11 eleven years later, whenever we saw each other it was like coming home to an old friend. He meant the world to my partner and I and the world is a somber place without him. Our prayers are with his family as they struggle throught this period of grief.

Bill & Debbie,
I got the call and am in total shock. You have to be nothing but proud of the young man you raised. He was a loving son to you both and there is nothing that will take his place. I know that he was a good friend to Sara while in college and was always a very respectable young man to me. Keep your faith in Jesus and he will guide you through this tragedy. Sherri and Tony Brown

I've had a jumble of thoughts and emotions ever since I heard the news in the early hours of Saturday morning. My heart aches for his family and his close friends.
My happiest memory involving Cole was the first time I met him, in February 2007. Each of us was out with a friend, Cole knew my friend, introductions were made, and the four of us talked and laughed for a long time. He was in a good mood and shared a lot about himself right away. I remember him telling me that he had studied Latin, and he was quoting a lot of it. What I could quote back to him was pretty limited -- as a result of my musical interests, most of the Latin I know comes from the Requiem Mass. I think he would have appreciated the irony of that becoming useful almost five years later.
Lacrymosa, dies illa,
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:
Pie Jesu Domine,
Dona eis requiem. Amen.
(Ah! that day of tears and mourning!
From the dust of earth returning
Man for judgment must prepare him;
Spare, O God, in mercy spare him
Lord, all praying, Jesu blest,
Grant them Thine eternal rest. Amen.)

Dear Billy & Debbie:
I am truly sorry for your loss and I'm sure there are no words that can adequately express what you must be going through right now. I've considered Cole to be one of my closest friends for a number of years now, and there is no way I'll ever be able to fill the void his absence has left in my life and in my heart. It was such a joy to know your son, and I hope you take some solace in knowing that numerous people adored him and held him in the highest regard. May the words of those who loved him and held him dear bring you comfort during this incredibly difficult time.
