SPOHN, William H., age 81 of Centerville passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. William was born on July 5, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harold J. and Lena B. Stuart Spohn. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Spohn. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice E. Wickline Spohn; three children, Steven (Shelly) Spohn, Mark (Christina) Spohn, and Annette (Bruce) Lechleiter; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler & Matthew Spohn and Julie, Sarah, Katherine & Anna Lechleiter; sisters, Louise Rhodes Lane and Carol (William) Raridan; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Spohn. William received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Master's degree in Engineering and a Master's of Business Administration, all from Ohio State University. He was employed by North American Aviation in Columbus, NCR Corporation in Dayton and the Montgomery County Engineers Office. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville Ohio for over 40 years. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45429, with the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Charlie Woodward officiating. Interment Centerville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Ave, Centerville, Ohio 45459 or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420. I would appreciate it if this message could be forwarded to Alice Spohn. Alice, I am so saddened to hear of Billy's passing. I was doing genealogy research for Spohn and ran across the obituary. He was such a kind man and so engaging; I will miss him. I hope you are doing well. I am still here in Columbus and would welcome seeing or hearing from any of you. Give my love to Carol and Louise. I had the good fortune to work with Bill at the Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering Department. He was smart, friendly, cooperative and a great asset to our community. We are sorry to lose a man of his caliber but grateful to have known him and learned from him. He was a great person.
