William L. "Bill the Barber" Stear, Sr., entered into rest Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Born May 14, 1930 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Clara (Ferringer) Stear. He was known as "Bill the Barber" after cutting many generations of hair at his shop on South Main Street in Medina. He served in the Marine Corp in the 1940's before attending Barber School in Niagara Falls. His passion was railroads and he had a large display and a railyard setup in his home. Born May 14, 1930 in Punxsutawney, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel M. and Clara (Ferringer) Stear. He was known as "Bill the Barber" after cutting many generations of hair at his shop on South Main Street in Medina. He served in the Marine Corp in the 1940's before attending Barber School in Niagara Falls. His passion was railroads and he had a large display and a railyard setup in his home.

Bill is survived by daughters, Shirley (Wesley) Newman of Medina, and Susan (the late Bob) Duffield of Albion. Sons, William (Cynthia) Stear, Jr., and Jeffrey (Peggy) Stear , bothof Knowlesville. Seven grandchildren, James Blankenship, William Stear, III, Samuel Stear, Kimberly Tower, Jeffrey Stear, Jr, Michael Duffield, and Amy Schrader. Five Great-grandchildren, Abigail Blankenship, Jacob Blankenship, Mitchell Duffield, Allity Duffield and Cory and Kali Schrader. Sister, Donna (the late Harry) Kroft of Oil City, PA. Brothers John Stear and Angus Stear both of Canton, OH. Many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty and Brother, Leroy.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday , September 4 , 2014, from 11:00AM – 2:00PM at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, NY with a funeral service at 2:00PM. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery with full military honors accorded.
