WELLFLEET – William Ezra Warren, 80, of Wellfleet, passed away
peacefully on Dec. 10, 2013. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of
Frank and Elizabeth (Whitaker) Warren and brother of Jane Warren
Cuyler. He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Scott) Eastman Warren,
of Wellfleet.
William (Bill) was raised in Newton, MA and graduated from Summit
High School in Summit, NJ. He received a bachelor's degree in
history from Amherst College and did graduate studies in architecture
at MIT. Following college, Bill was a lieutenant in the USAF, flying B-25 planes
as part of a search and rescue group in Alaska and the west coast.
Bill worked as an architect in Boston for over 35 years.
Bill loved the out of doors, in particular hiking, fly fishing,
camping and skiing. Many vacations and weekends were spent at the old
family home in Vermont. His later years were spent kayaking the
Wellfleet bays and playing golf year-round. He loved visiting with
family and especially his grandchildren.
A lifelong learner, Bill was an avid reader and had a great interest
in politics, science and sports. Bill thoroughly enjoyed talking to
everyone about anything, was generous, open-minded and loved a good
laugh. Bill was particularly gifted at teaching his skills and
interests to others and taught many people to ski, kayak and cast a fly.
Besides his wife Beverly, he is survived by his children: Susan
Warren and her husband Dave Shepard of Middlesex, VT; Robin Warren
and her partner David Coupe of Portland, OR; Douglas Warren and his
wife Karen of Broomfield, CO; his stepchildren, Scott Eastman and his
wife Dawnnica of New York, NY and Laura Eastman of Seattle, WA; his
grandchildren, Brendan Shepard, Katelyn Warren, Eila and Sonia
Eastman and Hazel Walton; niece Juliana Cuyler Dolan, nephew Alex
Cuyler, and cousins, Caleb Hale and Ezra Hale.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wellfleet Historical
Society and Museum (wellfleethistoricalsociety.org), P.O. Box 58,
Wellfleet, MA 02667, in memory of William E. Warren.
A memorial service will be held this Spring in Vermont.
