William Franklin Zieverink, 69, of Atlantic Beach and formerly of Raleigh, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 9, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was son of the late Larry Sr. and Ruth Zieverink of Raleigh.

Bill is survived by his wife, Frances Jean Zieverink; sons Brian and Kevin; daughter-in-law, Amy; and his two grandchildren, Ruthie and Will Zieverink. He is also survived by his brothers Larry, Jr., Bob and Ken Zieverink.

Bill was born in Winston-Salem and raised in Raleigh, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant with the 805th Army National Reserves, MPCo. Bill also served as a Raleigh Police Officer. He later became business partners with his father as owner of Larry's Super Market in Raleigh, and later bought his father out to become sole owner. Bill served on the Board of Directors of The Christian Fellowship Home in Raleigh.

Because of Bill's acceptance of Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we know that he is now in his final home~Heaven.

Bill was an avid saltwater fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's many activities, boating, and playing cards. He enjoyed his friends at his morning trips to the "Coffee Club". He also enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean and, in particular, Aruba. Bill was known among his friends and strangers alike for his generosity and desire to help those in need. After spending many weekends in Atlantic Beach, Bill and Jean retired and moved there permanently in 2003. They enjoyed their time there spent with old friends and meeting many new friends during their retirement years.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park, followed by a reception at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. Everyone is encouraged to attend the reception and spend time with Bill's family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill's memory to Carteret Memorial Foundation for the Raab Clinic, PO Box 1619, Morehead City, NC 28557 or Fellowship Home of Raleigh, Attn: John Salgado, 506 Cutler St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
