The funeral for Willie "Blanch" Baker, 85, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McConnell Funeral Home with Leon McCafferty officiating. Burial will be in Tanner Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Athens Rehabilitation Senior Care.
Willie Baker was born June 24, 1926, to Joseph Peden and Dorthulia Morris Peden. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley Gorden Baker; son, John Henry Brown; grandson, John Henry Brown Jr.; and 13 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy W. Brown and wife Nece of Cullman, Carter R. Brown of Athens; daughter, Doris Yeager and husband Michael of Akron; seven grandchildren, Sonia Renee Kellom, Lee Ann Baker, Christopher Lott, Nathan Brown, James Allen Brown, Christy Brown, Jessica Renee Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Nichole Wilder, Blake Gorden Baker, Matthew Kellom, Jasmine Nichole Kellom, Landyn Haggard, Grayson Vanschoiack, Julianna Lott; two great-great-grandchildren, Samanthia Wilder and Braiden Wilder.
Pallbearers will be Pee Wee Smith, Corey Smith, James Allen Brown, Chris Lott, Matthew Kellom and Blake Baker.
The family would like to express its thanks to the staff at Athens Nursing Home.

Dear Doris Jane:I was so sorry to her of the passing of your Mother.She was such a sweetheart.I will miss touching her little rosy face.May the God that surpasses all understanding will be a comfort to you and your family.I know that you loved your Mother as much as I do mine.You did all you could for her.God is pleased with this.This is Mrs.Barbee's daughter Marion.
