He worked in the printing industry for a number of years and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Gadsden. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Mae (Fitts) Barnett, father, Albert Barnett, sister, Patsy Higdon, brothers, Jerry Barnett and Carlton Barnett.
He survived by his wife Jacqulin Ratledge Barnett, sons, Richard Anthony (Sharon) Barnett, David Edward (Jo Ann) Barnett and Jeffery Scott (Michelle) Barnett, daughter, Sonya "Lisa" (Paul) Barnett Browning, Grandchildren, Brian, Robin and Trey Barnett, April Payne, Rachael and Kimberly Wallis, Bailey, Alex and Nicholas Barnett, great-grandchild James Parker Jackson and 10 step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Robin and Trey Barnett, DJ Jones, Jonathan Browning and Jason Hood.
