Just that if ever there was a warm and gracious host and hostess it was Bill and Willie. I think about them often and the Sundays we all piled into bed to read the papers while Bill brought in the coffees and any goodies. I regrettably did miss the memorial funeral while Was attending my daughter's surgery at a hospital in Concord Vs. I have lost That daughter since to suicide and the sadness of that loss has affected my whole family ever since. I hope my warm loving cousin was one of the spiritual helpers that greeted my daughter Bonnie at Heaven's gate and I look forward to seeing all my ancestors when it is my time to go. Much love to you all. Rest in happy repose, darling cousin, blood of my blood. Sylvia.

I'll always remember the very special afternoon that Ed and I spent with Willie and Bill at their home in CA. They were so gracious, entertaining and full of life. Thank you, Sandra, for sharing them. I now understand where you got so many of your wonderful qualities.

Dear Michael,Michele, Patrick and Sandra, and beloved family, I only just heard about your mom's passing from Anthony and Rohana from the old Faces West Studio in Monterey. I saw her last a few years ago when my friend and I stopped in for lunch then another time while visiting the area with some jazz friends for a day. I received an invite to her 90th birthday and had arrangements made to go but had to cancel because my daughter had surgery that same weekend and needed me. I have lived in Sacramento since 2009 and not able to drive long distances and not at all at night. I have the most wonderful memories of your mom as a teenage cousin visiting in Tn. many years ago. We then discovered each other again when I was living on the Monterey Peninsula and got to see all of you occasionally. Yes, your mom and dad were the Host and Hostess with the Mostess and I was always welcomed with a warm hug and that famous smile. To visit them was always a party. I was happy and it was my pleasure that I could make her days pleasant by looking up at all the portraits I did for her family wall. I regret that I could not reach out to her more often as she was a light in my life more than once. I have had my own challenges both medical and emotional. I had received a belated New Years greeting from Michael only about 1 month ago and happily responded but had not heard anything back as I now believe your mom may have taken a turn for the worse and the family was involved in her care and mortality and Michael could not let me know what happened. I am so sorry to lose this wonderful cousin who gave me such joy each time we met. God Bless and keep you. Loving cousin, Sylvia Rogers (Barnes)

Micheal,Michele,Sandy and Pat- My heart goes out to all of you. Your Mom was the best! She always had a smile that would make you feel good. In are earlier years she always made things special for us kids. Sitting in her kitchen watching her cook and her always passing out a taste here and there. The big family dinner at that big table, which proably just seemed big then, but filled with love and family. Her kichen is where you shared the days events. We shared alot of years together.Willie was always up beat and full of love. You all had the best Mom and I know you will miss her. May your memories bring you peace and keep you close in spirit. May God Bless you all.

I played bridge with Willie only a few times at MPCC but my Mother-in-law, Anne Phillips, who passed on 1/14/2012, knew her well. I found Willie to be a kind and gracious person with a little mischief thrown in too! I'm so lucky to have met her! My condolences on your loss.
