Winifred "Alene" Griggs, age 95, and formally of Fulton, died peacefully on August 8th, 2017 in Dothan, Alabama.
Alene is survived by her children, Dennis R. McKee (Sue Barge) of Rochester, New York; her daughter, Kathryn "Katie" Woodham (Mike) of Dothan, Alabama; her grandchildren, Claudia Crider and Christian McKee both of Rochester, New York, John A. Brown and Zachary Brown both of Dothan, Alabama as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Griggs from Fulton and a son, William "Bill" J. McKee, Jr. formally of Fulton.
Alene was born on October 26th, 1921 in Marshall, Missouri to parents, William Mabry Moore and Lillie E. Brown Moore. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1939 and began work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She then began a long career as a dental assistant with the Fulton State Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Alene enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, as well as Mizzou Tiger sports. While living in Fulton, she spent many joyful hours at the Fulton Senior Center dancing, shooting pool and playing cards with her many friends.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., the same day. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Rev. Mindy Kiepe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Callaway Senior Center in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251.
