Winnie Elizabeth Riggs, 83, of Apex, passed away, Sunday, November 27, 2016 at home after an extended illness.
Elizabeth was born on January, 24, 1933 in Morgan County, AL to the late John Paul Lindsey and Ova Suit Lindsey. Elizabeth was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, basket weaving, ceramics, and painting among other crafts. Elizabeth was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister and grandmother (known as Granny).
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Leo Riggs.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Jimmy Woods of Sanford, Gerald Woods and his wife, Gayle of Cary; daughters, Karon Swayze of Apex, Sheila Hearn and her husband, Mark of Apex; sister, Joyce Lindsey of Miami, FL; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 12pm Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams Street, Apex, NC 27502, with burial to follow at Apex Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10am-12pm prior to the service.
