BEASLEY, Winifred "Winnie" Elaine Wintz, 67, passed away on April 22, 2014 at the Hospice Wing of St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL. She fought a three year battle with colon cancer with courage, grace and dignity. She was born on January 23, 1947 in Palatka, FL, to Landry and Aliff (Rich) Wintz. The second of five children, she grew up in Jacksonville, FL, where she attended Fishweir Elementary, Lake Shore Junior High, and was voted "Most School Spirit" and a Warrior Cheerleader. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1965. She loved being a "Lee High Girl" and enjoyed the annual "Powder Blue" reunions. She was baptized in the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church for many years. She began her career as a secretary for the Duval Area Planning Board from 1965 through 1969. She then married and moved to Hawaii, where she was the secretary to the project manager of the Honolulu Paper Company form 1970 through 1973. Upon moving back to Jacksonville in 1973, she was employed as the secretary to Vice-President of Farmbest Dairy, Inc., Jacksonville, FL from 1973 through 1976. In 1976 she began working in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Jacksonville, FL as a secretary/stenographer until 1981. In 1981 she became the secretary and later the courtroom deputy to a Federal Judge. She retired October 2006 after 30 years of Federal service. She made many dear friends while working there, all of whom speak very highly of her and many stated "she was the nicest person they ever met." She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and the "light of her life" – her only grandchild, Ryan, her "Doodlebug." She loved spending time at her lake house in Keystone Heights, FL going to Jaguar games – season ticket holder – and collecting antique Jacksonville post cards. She was an avid Jimmy Buffett fan and enjoyed watching "Jeopardy" nightly. She enjoyed traveling and living life to the fullest. She was a beautiful woman inside and out, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, Landry and Aliff Wintz. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her only child, Brenda Beasley Prindiville (Richard), Jacksonville, FL, grandson Ryan Prindiville and loving companion of 27 years, Michael Foster. Sisters, Penny Spears (Claude), Young Harris, GA, Janie Earle (Neil), Bonnie Sealey and brother Tim Wintz (Charlotte) all of Jacksonville, FL and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Winnie's memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, followed by a gathering of friends and family in the banquet hall. My heart goes out to you and your family. Our heavenly Father invites us to draw near to him, especially during such grievous times. He is ready and willing to extend his loving arms to comfort us. He promises that if we draw close to him, he will allow us to enter into a truly precious relationship where we can have confidential talk with him as we would with a special friend ... Psalm 25:14.
