INDIANAPOLIS - Woody Robertson, native of Staunton, and three-time Emmy award winning television director, passed away suddenly Feb. 11 while visiting the home of his daughter, Penny (Robertson) Buechter, near Indianapolis. Woody is credited with multiple awards in decades of broadcasting excellence and television production. While living in Staunton, he managed The Statler Brothers for a short time, even designing one of their album covers. The family then moved to Ohio where he worked with Rex Humbard Ministries. INDIANAPOLIS - Woody Robertson, native of Staunton, and three-time Emmy award winning television director, passed away suddenly Feb. 11 while visiting the home of his daughter, Penny (Robertson) Buechter, near Indianapolis. Woody is credited with multiple awards in decades of broadcasting excellence and television production. While living in Staunton, he managed The Statler Brothers for a short time, even designing one of their album covers. The family then moved to Ohio where he worked with Rex Humbard Ministries. Later he worked with Tim LaHaye, author of the popular Left Behind series of Christian books. In Michigan he produced and directed a Christian weekly show for Jack and Rexella VanImpe, called "Jack VanImpe Presents."

Moving to Michigan, he partnered with Rosalind Cooperman to form September Moon Production Network Inc. The company earned multiple awards in the local broadcast community and did production work with Ford, GM and NASA. They worked with many celebrities including Marie Osmond, Christopher Reeve and Harry Belafonte and directed an MTV video for Elton John.
He leaves behind Margaret Robertson (div.) of Indianapolis and two daughters, Penny (Paul) Buechter of Greenwood, Ind., and Cindy Robertson Heck (div.) of Evansville, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Christopher Buechter, Caleb and Elizabeth Heck. There will be a memorial in Michigan on March 10 and services will be held later at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, at a date yet to be determined. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Churchville, Va.
