Worley Gerald Brown, 84, of Summersville, formally of Matheny, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Born June 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Amos and Sarah Brooks Brown.
Worley was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he returned to the coal fields of Southern, WV where he worked in many mines across our region. He was a member of UMWA. Worley was an avid gunsmith and staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment. He enjoyed being outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Worley was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, his sisters, Mary Ellis, Alley Bailey and Sybil Stewart; his brothers, Thurmond Brown, Elmer Brown, Britian Brown, Weldon Brown, William Brown, Willard Brown, Wade Brown, Wayne Brown, Welch Brown, Wylie Brown and Warren Brown, and his granddaughter, :Lea Shawn Sizemore.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Clara Maxine Brown; children, Vicky Brown Brunty and husband, Arlie, Beverly Brown Tolliver and husband Dwight, Dwight Brown and wife, Juanita, Teresa Brown, Douglas Brown and wife Lenora; grand children, Lori Brunty Sizemore and husband, Aven, Daniel Brunty and wife, Crystal, David Tolliver and companion, Heather Cook, Michael Tolliver and wife, Deanna, Kaleigh Brown, Frankie Brown and fiancée, Marlena; great grandchildren, Kelsie, Calyn, Paige Sizemore, Coley and Haley Tolliver
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley with Pastor Joey A. Sheppard officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I wished I could have talked to you more last night at the funeral home. I met Worley in the woods at Salmon Run about 12 years ago and spent many hours talking to him. I was proud to call him my friend! My dogs perk up their ears whenever they heard his name. They loved him too! I'm sure I'll see him again! God Bless You! Jim (Digger) Moyer
