West Chicago-Yvonne R. Rockenbach, 90, of West Chicago and formerly of Crystal Lake, IL and Bark River, MI, died Sunday, November 10, 2013, at home in West Chicago. She was born November 18, 1922, in Fox River Grove, Illinois to Reinhold Harry Luft and Anna (Forst) Luft. On December 21, 1946, she married Philip John Rockenbach at the First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake. She lived in Fox River Grove for most of her early years where she expressed her passion for dance. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1940. West Chicago-Yvonne R. Rockenbach, 90, of West Chicago and formerly of Crystal Lake, IL and Bark River, MI, died Sunday, November 10, 2013, at home in West Chicago. She was born November 18, 1922, in Fox River Grove, Illinois to Reinhold Harry Luft and Anna (Forst) Luft. On December 21, 1946, she married Philip John Rockenbach at the First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake.
She lived in Fox River Grove for most of her early years where she expressed her passion for dance. She graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1940. She served proudly in the United States Navy for three years during World War II. Yvonne and Philip raised their four children in Crystal Lake where they were members of the First Congregational Church. Yvonne taught Sunday school there for 15 years and served on the Board of Deacons.
In 1972 Yvonne and Philip moved to Michigan where they spent 33 years on their Lake Michigan property. Yvonne loved working in the yard, observing wildlife, reading and knitting. She especially enjoyed hosting the annual 4th of July celebration for the children and grandchildren. In 2005 Yvonne and Philip moved back to Illinois.
She is survived by sons, Philip (Pam) Rockenbach and John (Barb) Rockenbach; daughter-in-law, Susan Rockenbach; son-in-law, Richard Green; her grandchildren, Stacy, Barbara, Amy, Elizabeth, Philip, Courtney, Daniel and Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister Sheryl Halleran. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; her children, Peter George Rockenbach and Leslie Ann Green and her sister Louanna.
A visitation will be from 1 pm until the 2 pm memorial service on December 26 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Following the service there will be refreshments served at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society, Attn: Audubon Angel, 225 Varick St. 7th Floor, New York, NY 10014.
