Zita M. McKenna

Zita M. McKenna, 96, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017 at her home in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church in Early, IA with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Storm Lake, IA.
Zita was born February 12, 1921 in Early, IA to Anthony and Julia Dahm. She married Donald McKenna in November of 1950. Since her husband was in the Air Force they spent most of their married life moving around. After his death in 1965, Zita moved back to West Des Moines where she worked as a Travel Clerk for The Department of the Army. After retiring, she devoted her time to playing golf and reading.
Zita is survived by her son, Daniel McKenna; nephews, Rich (Terri), Pat (Barb), Tom (Kathy), Fred and Robert; nieces, Rosemary (Dave) and Julia (Amadeus); seventeen great nieces and nephews; seven great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and brother, Hilary Dahm.
Memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint Hospice or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines.
