Our beloved Zora Logan passed away peacefully while sleeping at Life's Care of Treasure Valley in Boise, on Friday, May 5, 2017, at age 76, following a five-year disability as a result of a stroke.
Zora was born November 9, 1940, at Caldwell, Idaho, the daughter of Manly "Doc" and Opal Deering. Zora graduated from Caldwell High School in the Class of 1959. Zora was wonderful about keeping in touch with many of her classmates over the years and enjoyed class reunions as long as she was able to attend.
Zora was married in a beautiful wedding ceremony at Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise to John C. Logan from Payette, Idaho, on August 10, 1963. John and Zora were first introduced to each other at the Cathedral of the Rockies where they both attended. At that time John especially enjoyed Zora's singing in the choir. Once married, John and Zora served the church as greeters and ushers for many years over their 54 years of marriage.
Zora always so tenderly loved babies and children, and in 1977, John and Zora adopted an infant boy they named Andrew John Logan. Andy will always be Zora's precious gift from God, and she delighted in Andy becoming a very nice young man in her lifetime. Zora was a wonderful mother who loved her son and her husband with all her heart.
Zora completed her studies at Nampa Business College and was employed by the State of Idaho for 25 years. Zora retired from her position with the State of Idaho in 1961 to spend quality time with her family. Over the years Zora kept in close contact with friends from her work. Zora was a loyal friend.
For many years John and Zora enjoyed bowling in competitive league play. Those were good times. Zora also loved to knit and crochet beautiful items which she sold and gave as gifts that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Zora loved her gardens. She was excited when plants started to grow each spring and kept others in the family informed when the peas came up and the tomatoes started to ripen. She worked at preserving various fruits and vegetables each growing season and always had plenty of food on hand. She canned tomatoes and grape juice and dried raisin and other fruits. Zora was a wise and patient gardener. She fed the birds that stopped by the yard and always had a treat for cats that sometimes decided to stay around for many years.
John and Zora enjoyed many road trips to the Oregon coast and visited family and friends in the Midwest. After John's retirement they went on a cruise to Alaska, one of their travel highlights.
Zora is preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Zora is survived by her loving husband John Logan and her devoted son Andy Logan, her extended Logan families, the Jim Logan family, Chuck Logan family, Susan Logan family, Sally Gilbert family, Belinda Wymer family, and many close friends. Zora appreciated special friends Claudia Spillard of Boise, Verna and Gene Patrick of Wilder, Ron Petrie of Oregon City, and Bev Chrisman of Portland. Zora touched many lives and will be tremendously missed.
The family wants to especially thank all the staff at Life Care Center of Treasure Valley for their kind and loving care of Zora over the past five years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Zora on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 112 North 9th Street, Payette, Idaho. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Payette.
