"The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want."
ANTHONY PERROTTA, 84, of Trumbull, a former Stamford and New Canaan resident, passed away peacefully at Branford Hospice on Monday, February 8, 2010. Tony was born on February 19, 1925 in New Cannan, Connecticut, to the late Antonio Dascenzo Sr. and Belita Carvascir, and was adopted by the late Gaetano and Teresina Perrotta. Tony moved to Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School in 1943. Tony was the loving husband of the late Jacqueline Jansen Perrotta who he married in 1962. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 43 years and Tower Records. He was dedicated to causes for humanity, including work for the Society for Ethical Culture in Westport and New York. He was concerned with the plight of underrepresented groups as well as class issues. Tony was well-loved in his church, Bethany Assembly of God in Stamford, Connecticut, where he enjoyed singing and working with missionaries and educational programs. He was also passionate about opera (particularly Wagner), and a broad range of literature, including the classics, the social sciences (especially history, socio-economic issues and colonization). Tony also enjoyed playing chess, watching sports, visiting the national parks and historical sites, and introducing his children to various cultural institutions. Selfless, kind, ever-forgiving, erudite and compassionate, Tony was above all a devout man of faith and committed to his family. In addition to his two sons, Guy of New York, and Arnold of Trumbull, his daughter-in-law Monica and their son, Alexander Anthony, and his future daughter-in-law Jane, Tony leaves behind two sisters, Carmella of Darien, and Josephine and her son Joseph, of Florida. He was predeceased by several siblings. Friends may visit the Bouton & Reynolds/Gallagher Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 4 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Bethany Assembly of God, 2 Scofield Road, Stamford, CT, 06903 on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 10:30 am.
