Reginald Larry "Red" Lewis, 79 of Madison Heights, went home to be with the Lord, November 26, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Gail Hudnall Lewis.
Born August 11, 1931, in Augusta, GA, he was a son of the late Clinton and Lona Sprouse Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a United States Army and Navy veteran. He received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, from GA Tech, and was retired from Commonwealth Gas. Mr. Lewis was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a past member of the Madison Heights Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Dawn L. Smith and husband Robert, of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Trey, Brad, and Tes; and his brother Clinton L. Lewis and wife Peggy, of Augusta, GA.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh Jr. officiating. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 16.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Area Food bank, 501 B 12th Street, Lynchburg, VA, 24501.
