Hilda Frances Comer Broyles, 84, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at MontVue Nursing Home in Luray where she had been since August.
She was born on July 21, 1926 in Shenandoah and was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Janie Marie Lam Comer.
Mrs. Broyles graduated from Shenandoah High School and lived her entire life in the Shenandoah area. She had formerly worked at the Shenandoah Knitting Mill and Shenandoah IGA deli. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed flowers. She was a member of the Shenandoah Assembly of God.
In 1957, she married her husband, Arthur Marshall who preceded her in death on February 11, 1989.
She is survived by one Daughter, Jacqueline Joy Phillips of Waynesboro, two sons, James Marshall Broyles and wife, D.D. of Staunton, Larry "Butch" Comer and wife, Ora Mae of Stanley, three grandchildren, Michael and Justin Broyles, and Joshua Phillips; a step grandchild, Tracey Webb; two step-great-grandchildren Jacob and Jessica Renee Webb; and several nieces and nephews; special friends, Doug and Midge Rosser of Shenandoah. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
The family will receive friends 7-9:00 PM, Tuesday, December 7, at the Assembly of God Church.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 8, at the church with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Burial will follow at the Methodist Cemetery.
