DePatie, Robert Edward.

Robert Edward DePatie died peacefully on May 3, 2011, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Lord DePatie. He is also survived by his four children, Marianne DePatie Fouhey (and husband John), Robert E. "Ted" DePatie, Jr. (and wife Lynn Cornelius), Peter J. DePatie (and wife Lisa), and Thomas T. DePatie (and wife Irina Faskianos), as well as his grandchildren James D. Fouhey, David F. Fouhey and Elizabeth T. Fouhey, Jason H. DePatie, Stephen D. DePatie, Joseph T. DePatie and Andrew P. DePatie, and Christopher J. DePatie. Other survivors include his brothers Thomas C. DePatie (and wife Judy), Richard J. DePatie (and wife Molly) and Eugene P. DePatie (and wife Margot), his sister-in-law Chris DePatie, and 14 nieces and nephews. His brother William J. DePatie predeceased him, as did his father, Oscar J. DePatie, and mother, Marie Morrissey DePatie.

Bob was born in Hartford, CT in 1928, and was raised in West Hartford, CT. He graduated from The Loomis School, and went on to graduate with a B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during 1951-1952. In 1956, he joined The Stanley Works in New Britain, CT, and spent the remainder of his business career there, holding a series of increasingly senior management positions. He spent the last five years of his career in England, and at his retirement in 1993 was President and General Manager of Stanley Tools Europe. Bob was a long-time resident of Simsbury, CT. Following his retirement, he and Ann moved to Chatham, MA, where they had long had a summer home. While in Chatham, he was an avid tennis player and active in many local organizations, including the Chatham Athletic Association, the Chatham Historical Commission, the Chatham Wastewater Citizens Advisory Committee and the Chatham Retired Men's Club.

Donations in Bob's memory may be made to The Loomis Chaffee School, 4 Batchelder Road, Windsor, CT 06095, Attn: Development Office, or the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, c/o Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 165 Cambridge Street, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. A Mass will be celebrated for Bob on Tuesday, May 24, at 11:00AM at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 57 Highland Avenue, Chatham, MA. Interment will be private. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
