Leroy Mastin Sr., 70 of Spotsylvania County passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 surrounded by his family and friends at Mary Washington Hospital.
He had a very strong love for his grandchildren and a passion for gardening.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Thelma Atkins Mastin; five children, Judy Mastin, Glenda Davis and husband Scott, Dennis Mastin, David Mastin and wife Nita all of Spotsylvania, and Tony Mastin and wife Cheryl of Orange;
Seven grandchildren; Jamie Mastin of Burlington Iowa, Zachary, Benjamin, Carter and Emma Mastin of Orange, and Anna and Andrew Davis of Spotsylvania; a great granddaughter, Stephania Mastin of Lexington Park, Maryland.
Three sisters; Shirley Jett and Daisy Paytes of Spotsylvania and Violet Moran of Richmond; three brothers Charles, Henry, and Richard Mastin of Spotsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Julia Mastin; and his beloved son, Leroy Mastin Jr; three brothers, Calvin, Thomas, and Nelson Mastin; and three sisters Rose Jean Mastin, Doris Dean Mastin and Arlene Wheeler.
The family will receive friends at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Spotsylvania on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held at Craigs Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Ray Farrow and John Swain officiating.
The pallbearers will be Kenny Mastin, James Jones, JR Mastin, Jimmy Mastin, Ricky Jett, and Dennis Perry.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the care and support of Dr. Leroy Essig and his staff for 25 years of dedicated care. Also a special thank you to his son, Dennis Mastin and his companion Vicky Miller for their endless support and care in his last days.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Craigs Baptist Church Building Fund and Cemetery Fund.
