Reverend Daniel Garcia Rivers, 73, of Wichita Falls passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2012 at First Assembly of God, 3101 McNeil Ave. with Reverend Gilbert Rodriquez and Reverend Victor Arellano officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. A 'Celebration of Life' Service will follow the visitation from 5:30 until 7:30.
Brother Rivers was born on February 9, 1939 in Crowell, TX to the late Louis and Margarita (Garcia) Rivers. He became a resident of Wichita Falls in 1949. Daniel married Asmer Alvarez on September 20, 1958 in Vernon, TX. Once he accepted Christ as his personal Savior, he felt called into the ministry. Brother Rivers received his license through the Assemblies of God. As a husband and wife ministry, they traveled and ministered to many parts of Texas and Oklahoma. He moved his family to Graham, TX in 1977 where he was pastor at a mission named Gethsemane Assembly of God . They shared the good news and Brother Rivers shared his light with all he could reach. His last affiliation was as a member of Mission of Faith in Jacksboro, TX.
Survivors include his wife, Asmer Rivers of Wichita Falls; sons, Tomas Lopez and wife, Linda, Daniel Rivers and wife, Rachel, Samuel Rivers, Eli Rivers and wife, Grace and David Rivers and wife, Anita; grandchildren, Sandra Rivers, April Lopez, Jenica Lopez, Kaylie Rivers, Skylar Rivers and Sara Rivers; great grandchildren, Frank Lee Lejia, Nathan Castillo, Valerie Castillo and Isabella Castillo; siblings, Josephine Rivers, Johnny Rivers and wife, Kathy and Tony Rios and wife, Victoria.
Reverend Rivers was preceded in death by siblings, Paul Rivers, Bill G. Rivers, Juan Rios and Mary Holgin.
Pallbearers will be Joe Ray Rios, Nathan Castillo, Atilano Sanchez, Adam Sanchez, Christopher Hernandez and Bryan Oplinger.

He is my father in Christ, my friend, my Pastor. He and his wife were like parents to me. I will miss him dearly, but I know that you are in a better place, the place that you taught me about.
