Steve won my respect as a professional engineer early in my career while he was my supervisor in Oklahoma Ciy. Many of the engineering attributes I observed in him I have attempted to emulate in my career. Although it has been many years since speaking to him I will always cherish the experience of him guiding the development of a young drilling engineer. My condolence to the McCoy Family.

Dear Karen and family, We ache to imagine your loss, but find comfort in the life Steve led, his accomplishments personal and professional, the obvious love and joy shared in the McCoy family and for the strength of the next generation, so clearly seen in the photo album at Dignity Memorial. Imagining Steve's mercurial wit, he may have wished to see the fabled hearse of his college years and those pesky cockatoo's of Jakarta fame. He is with us always.

Dear Karen, Val and Al. Words can't express our sadness in the loss of Uncle Steve. He was one of a kind and left a multitude of fond memories. It was so neat getting to live close together after being so far apart. We got to share life for a short while and then yall were off on another adventure. Watching the tears of joy roll down his cheek at the weddings showed what a large heart he tried to hide. You will be in our prayers as the days pass but the memories last. Mike, Cheri and Kimber Lea.

Steve was an excellent engineer who was always professional but had a great sense of humor. He and I ran into each other in Lowes in Katy and both of us agreed it was a rare chance meeting. I know I will miss him as will many others. Thanks Steve for your help and friendship.

Steve was a wonderful guy and good friend. He was a quiet man but one of the most intelligent men I've ever known. Such an important part of our family he was always there when you needed him. I will miss our Pepsi/Coke rivalry but every time I see a Coke can I will smile. What a wonderful husband, father and friend. I will miss him terribly.

Thank you, Steve, for all the technical help you gave me over the years. I always enjoyed dropping by your office or giving you a call and listening to your faux irritation that you had to talk "caverns" again. You'd say that your day was going well - until I called or walked in the door. And then you'd give that almost-indetectable smirk. I will miss you. We all will miss you. You were a great guy, a respected expert and a good friend.

I can still hear him, "Geno, what can I help you with". I'd tell him and then he would help. If it was a day where someone was aggravating him, he'd skip the "Geno" part and just go straight to the "what can I help you with". I'd tell him and then he would help. Never did he leave me hanging.
It would be true to say that staying with this company as I have is due largely to guys like Steve. He was consistently principled, a rare trait. He was an engineer living in the real world. He told you what he thought, not some PC version. Thanks Steve.

Very saddend to hear of Steve's passing. I didnt know Steve well, i knew him more by his reputation as a highly respected engineer and driller. I sat on a team with Steve about 20 years ago to rewrite the PPCo Well Control Manual and Steve was like a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and experience. I know he will be sorely missed and my sincere condolences to his family.
