Ethel Portz, 89, passed away on March 8, 2013. Surviving her is a sister, Helen Montgomery (Wilbur), daughter, Donna, sons, David (Debra Jo) and Dean Portz, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces, three nephews and their families. Her husband, Paul A. Portz and sisters, Sophie Klopper, and Pauline Haas, preceded her in death. After high school, she took classes at the Chicago Art Institute and was active in art-related endeavors including working at a photography studio where she retouched and colorized black/white photos. Prior to marriage, she worked at a converted Dodge-Chrysler plant, testing B-29 engines and at Rock-Ola (jukebox manufacturer) testing M1 Carbines. In Arizona, she worked at an art/drafting supply business, participated in local art leagues, was a state fair judge and taught craft classes. She also participated in the local Welcome Wagon and National Model Railroader Association Railettes. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Donations in her memory may be made to your favorite charity. The Portz Family entrusted Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85282 with final arrangements. Even though I never meant Ethel, but every now and then I would ask her son Dean how is your mother doing? Dean and I often talked about her. She lived a long life. I know Our Creator greeted and welcomed her in now her Spirit World. Your mother Ethel will ALWAYS be with you all. <3 Sharon~Fry's
