Joey "Dog" M. Jackson Sr., 58 of Markle passed away at 1:30am on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his residence. Joey had worked in construction. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7, where he was a regular patron, and he also started the Legion Riders at Post 7 and was director from 2009 – 2011, VFW Men's Auxiliary Post 2457 of New Haven and Labor Union Local 213. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, horseback riding, hunting and fishing.
Joey was born on October 3, 1955 in Marshall, Arkansas, a son of S.T. and Wanda (Rolen) Jackson.
He was united in marriage to Donna Counterman on July 8, 1989 at the New Haven Conservation Club. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include his mother: Wanda Starks of Indianapolis; a daughter: Cassie Jo Jackson of Kansas City, KS; a son: Joey M. Jackson, Jr. of Kansas City, KS; a brother: Randy (Lavell) Jackson of Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law: Carriann Jackson of Indianapolis and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father: S.T. Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 4:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel.
Memorials can be made out to Cleveland Clinic in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

Joey Dog was a really great guy he will surely be missed by all. I first met him at the 32 club in Huntington. He was always full of jokes and laughs. Will miss his stories and fun times. May you ride the roads of heaven in peace Joey Dog.

Donna, we were shocked to hear of Joey's passing. We just saw the both of you a couple of weeks ago and he was his ornery self. One never knows when the good Lord is going to call us home. Jim and I will cherish all of the wonderful memories we have of him. We pray that God wrap his loving arms around you and comfort you during this very difficult time.
