Mary T. Canfield (57) of 869 8th Ave NE, Largo, FL died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at her home.
Born in Hornell, NY, she was the daughter of Anthony & Phyllis (Altieri) Parlave, and was a graduate of Hornell High School and received her R.N. from the Saint James School of Nursing.
Mary moved to Florida in 1988 living in Jacksonville, Orlando and Largo. She was employed at West Bay Surgery Center as a Registered Nurse and volunteering at the Food Bank until over taken by her illness. She had hoped to be part of a helicopter rescue team but derived the most satisfaction from helping and working with others in the medical field.
With many interests, Mary had a great love of flowers, enjoyed watching and attending baseball and football games as well as long rides in the countryside and quiet walks along the water's edge or through the park.
Mary was a great home maker and she loved her family and many friends. She enjoyed children, and had a special bond with her Great Nephew Spencer Lucas.
Most of all, Mary was a caring and loving wife as well as a partner in life to her husband, who will always love and remember her dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Anthony Parlave and sister Linda Caruso.
She is survived by her husband Don Canfield of Largo, FL, as well as her sisters Rosalie Lucas of Largo, FL, Phyllis Conway-Giglio of Hornell, NY, and Gloria Cone of Hornell, NY.
A Christian service will be conducted by Father Dermot Dunne of St Cecelia's Church in Clearwater on Dec. 18, at 7:00pm at 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774 (727-562-2080) for those wishing to attend.

I first met Mary when she worked in the recovery room at Sun Coast Hospital.I remember waking up in pain and she came over and said she would give me something to make me feel better and she did.
When I discovered she was from Hornell,we laughed talking about dining at Friendly's each summer we went home to Rochester.
As a coworker she was competent and compassionate.I will miss our "Queen
Mary'.
My thoughts and prayers to Don and family.

Well, the nameless entry would be me. Mary would get a kick out of this. Her response would be: "Typical Linda." She had a smile that would light up a room. To me, the brightest star in the sky, is always going to be Mary smiling down upon us. God Bless!!

Mimi(Mary) was my best friend as much as my aunt. We had so much in common and we always agreed. When I talked to her I felt like I was being treated as a grown human not like just a kid because she took the time to make everyone feel special. I spent as much time with her as I could ,almost all of the items in my room I got with or from Mimi. Now every time I look upon an object , a story is sent to me about me and her and how we got this object, this leaves me with not a feeling of sorrow or happiness , but a chilling devastating emptiness in the depths of my rib cage , knowing that I will not do Mimi's happy dance with her again, I will not decorate a Christmas tree with her again, and I will not sing with Mimi ever again. I feel cold and hallow , a sort of hallow that could take years to fill . So many plans to go for after school bike rides , or to meet our idols that will never come true now. But I move on because I know it's what she wants, and when my biggest tears begin to shed I know she will fallow me and and give me a kiss on the head ,only then will I feel warm and whole , only then will I know that I will see my best friend again in another life. I love you Mimi with all of my heart.
