Bessie Lindsey of Abilene, formerly of Toney, Alabama, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at a Ft. Worth hospital. Bessie was born on October 28, 1933 in Limrock, Alabama to Horace and Ellie Shelton. She was a lifelong active member of the Baptist church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Ellie Shelton; her husband, Damon W. Lindsey; her brothers, S.Q. Shelton and Shelby Shelton; her sisters, Christine Gibson, Ruth Lamb, and Lorene Joiner; and her grandson, Damon H. Lindsey.

She is survived by her children, John Wilbanks and wife, Ruth of Johnstown, Colorado, and James Lindsey and wife, Karen of Abilene; her sisters, Fanny Lou Vann and Betty Hall of Huntsville, Alabama; her brother, Horace Shelton Jr. and wife, Pat of Maryville, Tennessee; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family wishes to express thanks to the staff at Plaza Medical Center in Ft. Worth for the outstanding job they did to keep Bessie comfortable during her last days.
