Ruth Rieger (1925- 2013)
Ruth W. Rieger, of Palm Harbor Florida passed away on December 27th, 2013 at the age of 88. Ruth is survived by her brother, Otto; daughters, Susan (Jerry) Cange, Judy (Paul) Crowell, Jean (Bill) Beggs, Gail (Kary) Miller; grandchildren, Susan (Chris), Charles, Dale (Kate), Laurie, William (Hilary), Julie, Amy (Adam), Daniel, Grant, Bryce and Amelia; Great-grandchildren Andrew, Nick, Alice, Emma and Calvin. Ruth was born in Forest Park, Illinois, upstairs in her Aunt Elsie's home. She was raised and attended school in Oak Park, Illinois. She met her future husband Bill through the Forward Turners Organization in Chicago, Illinois, where both families were members. Following high school, Ruth worked at the First National Bank of Chicago. On October 11th 1947 she married Bill Rieger. Ruth and Bill moved to Villa Park, Illinois where they raised their four daughters. Ruth was an active homemaker involved in PTA, Girl Scouts, and recreational sport leagues. She loved competing in golf, bowling and volleyball. She and Bill retired to Florida in 1988. They joined the Highland Lakes community in Palm Harbor where she continued her interests in golf, bowling, and card club. Ruth and Bill were involved in various social clubs and enjoyed parties and dances at the clubhouse. Every summer they would venture north to Illinois where they would spend time on the Fox River visiting with friends and family. Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband Bill of 65 years. A celebration of her life will take place in Illinois at a later date.
