Vernon Yoho Passed away on January 28, 2014, at the age of 95.
Born April 14, 1918 in Doylestown , Ohio, the oldest
of ten children. He worked his way up in a large
corrugated and card board company and later became superintendent
of Package Corporation of America in Rittman, OH, Later it was absorbed
by Tennaco Corporation from which he retired after 32 years.
After moving to Longwood, FL
Vernon( an avoid golfer) worked at the
Wekiva Golf Club and retired at the age of 92. He knew
a great deal about golf courses, and was instrumental in the founding
and construction of the Rittman country club of which there were 10 founders. They purchased the land, studied the architectural golf course designs of Jones,
who was one of the finest golf course designers in the world. The barn with
its oak, chestnut and walnut beams became the center part
of the club house and the beams could be seen in the ballrooms.
He was very proud of his accomplishments with Rawiga PGA
Country Club Today this is a thriving golf course.
He is survived by his sister Esther Wells of
Madison , WI, brothers Homer and Carl Yoho
of OH and his two children, Candi Fromme
of Longwood and Richard Yoho of Apopka, FL.,
three grandchildren Mina, Shane and Nicholas
Hendershot and sons-in-law Steven Houser
and Geoffrey Fromme. He was a Mason for
over 60 years of the Blue Lodge of which he was worshipful master
and 32nd Degree and Shriner. He served in the Navy
in WWII in the South Pacific.
Services will be at 1:00 PM at Carey-Hand Cox Parker Funeral Home
in Winter Park , 1350 West Fairbanks Avenue. 3:00 are the grave
side service at Woodlawn Cemetery.
