I had the great pleasure to have met Mike in 1988 and become friends with him during the next two years. A wonderful giving person, who was well read and had a brilliantly funny sharp eye for irony. But most of all Mike had a great love of this City and its authentic culture and unlike many in this town now he knew the difference between those who create local culture and those who consume it.

Here's to the Duke of Dumaine Street. A live lived well.

Mike, Mike, Mike....You left too soon. I have so many fun memories of you: laughing at me when I was mad, dancing a jig, raising eyebrows, fish parties, creative drinks and toasts: Ugiwawa!! your dream of writing (which you did so well-- funny adjectives), music album covers you would send me to suit the sentiments, kyping in the quarter during the weekend midnight hours, ohh the times we had. I will miss you forever. You were a light in my life. it was always a good day when I got "a missive" from you. I still cannot believe you are gone. so sad. I know you are jazz festing up in heaven. keep the beat, old man. See you there, but not too soon , I hope. My condolences to his family. I know he loved you and was proud of every one of you.

Condolences from Meli and I on the lost of Michael. You and I grew up together, were in the Air Force at the same time, had sons early in our lives. Now we have another common bond the lost of a child. An exclusive club that no parent wishes to be a member of. The lost of a child is a pain that cannot be explained or exceeded. Our Christian belief that we will join them in Heaven will be yours,Beryls and all who loved him a positive way to weather his demise. Our prayers are with you and yours.

Michael, my precious friend - I already feel the loss of your amazing humour and your intellect, which always held me in awe. You were one of the gentlest, warmest people I have ever been lucky enough to know and I know that I must be happy for you now that you are at peace. Know that I will miss you always but treasure the memories - happy ones, all - of you eternally, too. Fly free, now.
