Thank you all for your kind words. All three of her daughters followed in her footsteps and became teachers. Mom loved her students and her teachers. For those of you who were her students I want to share a story about Dr. Schroeder.
When she first came to Gentilly Terrace she was offered new furniture and to have her office remodeled. Her response was that she wanted to use that money on her students instead. She wanted the money to be used to rebuild the playground in the school yard instead of spending the money on her office. That's how she was. As her daughter, I am very proud of her accomplishments.

To the family of Dr. Schroeder,
Something led me to search for Dr. Schroeder's name tonight on the internet. I'm not sure why. I had no idea of her passing and I am saddened by this news. Dr. Schroeder was my principal at Gentilly Terrace from Kindergarten until 6th grade. I am 33 yrs old now and I work in the New Orleans school system. I can without a doubt affirm that she was an excellent principal. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her loved ones.

I'll always remember Dr. Schroeder as an enthusiastic and energetic principal at Gentilly Terrace, and someone who appreciated and promoted the arts as well as rigorous academics.

Deborah, Natalie and Rebecca-
I just wanted to let you know how sorry we were to hear about Miss Juanita. She and Mr. Charles were such an important part of the Meister family - particularly in the early years. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Cousins,
My godmother was a remarkable person. Hers was a life of service. She was devoted to Charles, her daughters, and all of her family.
She also did so much for her other families - at church and at schools.
She will always be remembered for her love for others - and me. Please know that all of us share in your sorrow. May God bless you all.

Lutheran Children's Camp would have never happened without the Schroeder team. That would have been a real loss to so many of us that had such a wonderful experience each summer as a child because of them. You could always count on Cousin Juanita's upbeat outlook on life.
My condolences go out to the family for their loss.

Mrs. Schroeder was my first English teacher upon arrival from Cuba. I remember her enthusiasm, guidance, and patience with my lack of English. Never unwavering and with high expectations she helped me with grammar, spelling and English literature. Have fond memories of her. My sympathy to the family and rest assured that she touched many a young lives.
