Beulah Clemmer Tompkins, 99, died at home on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John F. and Margaret Joy Clemmer, and was born in Stanley, NC.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, played the piano and sang in the choir for 60 years. She was past President of Gastonia Woman's Club, and the Gastonia Music Club. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels; received an award for Outstanding Service in the American Cancer Society. She retired after 23 years at the City of Gastonia, and 7 years at Belk's.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, David Tompkins, her children: Alicia Luhrs (Bernd), Cynthia Cloninger (Les), Sylvia Smith, Betti Krapfl (Roger), John Tompkins (Beckie), David Tompkins, Jr. (Elaine), 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 805 S. York St., Gastonia on Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Braxton East.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Private family interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Alicia, Dave, I'm so sorry to hear of Beulah's death. She was a very classy, sweet lady. She's now with her long time lovely friend and neighbor Louise Huss! I enjoyed the pictures here.
