J.L. Walters, 67, of Lumberton, MS, died Saturday, July 5, 2014.

Mr. Walters was a retired truck driver; attended Lumberton Missionary Baptist Church; and was US Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam Era, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star.

He is preceded in death by his parents, J.M. and Christine Walters; and one brother, Donnie Walters.

Survivors include his wife, Trish Walters; three children, Scott (Sandra) Walters, Terri (David) Parker, Jason Walters; two siblings, Ronnie (Lorraine) Walters and Linda (Joe) Faggard; seven grandchildren, Scott Walters, II, Samantha Moore, Courtney Parker, Lucy Parker, Dalton Walters, Hayden Walters, and Shelby Claire Walters; and first cousin and best friend, R.D. Lee.

Services at 12pm, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 102 North 1st Street, Lumberton. Interment in Landrum Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior. Online condolences at www.whitefuneralhomelumberton.com . White Funeral Home (601) 796-2781.

I'm so sorry to hear of J.L's passing. I haven't seen him since we graduated from L'ton High. He was such a sweet and kind person... always quiet and polite.
